What is mediation?

frequently asked questions

Mediation is a voluntary process designed to resolve disputes.  It is an alternative option before escalating to expensive lawsuits and court mandated decisions.  A neutral third party, the mediator, sits down with you and the other party (or multiple parties) and guides your discussion. Everyone has an opportunity to speak without interruption. The mediator is trained to listen for perspectives, to clarify issues, and to help the parties generate options and ultimately develop their own solutions. Mediation helps parties work together to settle differences.
